AUSL of Romagna, in collaboration with Life CONOPS, the European project for the surveillance of invasive mosquitoes in South Europe of which is partner from July 2013, organized as dissemination action the distribution of placemats in July, August and September.
Specifically placemats have been distributed in collective restaurants for six days, twice a month: 25th and 26th July, 22nd and 23rd August, 5th and 6th September.
Organizations who took part in the initiative are the workplace restaurants of Health Departments of Forlì, Cesena, Rimini and Ravenna; Camst, a company of collective food service and Cibus, a self-service restaurant in Cesena.
Placemats are part of the regional campaign against mosquitoes promoted by Emilia-Romagna Region from the 25th of June that includes various informative materials about mosquitoes such as posters, leaflets and a video. Placemats has been introduced this year as an innovation with the aim to reach a large amount of citizens and draw their attention on the subject of mosquitoes and pests using very simple messages, easy to understand by a large amount of people.
During the six foreseen days, a total number of 42500 placemats have been distributed and people appeared to be very interested in the initiative. Also local newspapers reported this communicative activity in the news.
